Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ)

Have you ever experienced clicking or popping in your jaw, migraines, headaches, pain with chewing or eating, neck pain, or even ringing in your ears? These problems may all be attributed to TMJ dysfunction. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) lies between the upper and lower jaw and allows for motion to occur with chewing, talking and yawning. With proper assessment along with specific treatment strategies, physical therapy can be an important adjunct to successfully treating TMJ dysfunction and to facilitate a decrease in its symptoms.
